This watch was a limited edition and is no longer available.

Mare Adesso was created by Italian designer Matteo Girardi as a celebration of nature and the freedom of the oceans.

The name of this watch means “Sea, now!” a joyful call to escape the city and enjoy nature.

A majestic whale is caught in a cycle of leaping from the sea, soaring clear above the waves and diving back down into the depths.

Mare Adesso is released as an edition of 100 pieces, with each watch individually numbered on the back of the case, choose your favourite number from the dropdown menu above!

The watches were printed and assembled by us in our workshop in London.

          How to read the time:

The whale's nose points to the minutes, while the hours are displayed within the sun.

A translucent paint on the glass creates a feeling of the mysterious undersea world.

Matteo explains his inspiration for the design:

"Every year I look forward to summer, to escape the everyday reality of city life and visit the seaside. It’s one of my favourite places and I love to admire the ocean in all its splendour and imagine the wildlife and ecosystems working below the surface.

My design was born from the idea of creating a watch that would be beautiful to look at and at the same time convey an important message: that man must show more respect for nature.

For me the sea is synonymous with freedom and purity, but in recent decades pollution has profoundly damaged this fragile ecosystem.

I wanted to convey the idea that the sea is beautiful and inhabited by wonderful creatures but we should not take it for granted.

Mare Adesso was the result of a project organised by the Scuola Superiore d’Arte Applicata and Mr Jones Watches. The students at the school were challenged to design a watch for us and we liked this design so much that we decided to produce it.

10% of the sale price of each watch will be donated to Greenpeace to help in the fight against marine pollution.
