ただいま Tadaima was created to remind you of the feeling of arriving home.
This watch was designed by London-based Japanese illustrator, Yo Hosoyamada. It's a celebration of Yo’s hometown of Tokyo.
How to read the time
- The position of the bird shows you the minutes
- The hours are displayed in a window of the tallest building
Yo explains her inspiration for the design
"ただいま Tadaima is the Japanese for ‘I’m home!’, the first thing you say when you walk through the door (the reply to tadaima is okaeri which means ‘welcome home’).
It’s something you say when you come home after a long day of work, or after you have been away for a while. It also means ‘right now’ or ‘the present’.
Living and working away from my hometown of Tokyo, I wanted to design the watch that would serve as a window or a portal that could transport me home whenever I wanted.
It’s a homage to the city I love that means I can carry it with me wherever I go.”
Watch movement
A watch for life. You’ll never need to replace a battery again. Tadaima is powered by an automatic mechanical movement.
This means the motion of wearing your watch provides the power to wind it up and keep it running.
The watch also has a jump hour feature, so the hour flips in the window of the building, exactly on the 59>00 minute shift, blink and you’ll miss it!
